Kerala Kolam Thidambu –  Temple Inspired Handcrafted Thidambu for Pooja, Festivals & Home Decoration

Description

Kolam Thidambu is a traditional decorative piece inspired by the rich temple culture of Kerala. The word “kolam” refers to the intricate ornamental patterns, while “thidambu” represents a beautifully adorned replica of a deity. Known for its detailed golden work, traditional motifs, tiered crown design, and decorative elements, it reflects the grandeur of temple art and heritage.

In Kerala temples, the Thidambu plays an important role during festivals and rituals. Since the main idol (moolavar) remains inside the sanctum (sreekovil), the Thidambu is used for processions (Ezhunnallathu), allowing devotees to receive blessings and have darshan. Traditionally, it is crafted using metal like gold or silver, mounted on a wooden or bamboo frame, and decorated with silk, flowers, and ornaments.

Today, miniature versions of Kolam Thidambu are widely used for home décor and pooja purposes, bringing a divine and cultural ambiance to living spaces. These decorative pieces are commonly made using lightweight fiber materials with a premium finish.
